Title: Never Less Than A Lady
The Lost Lords Series
Author: Mary Jo Putney
Genre: Historical Romance
Review Rating: Five Stars
Reviewer: Linda Hays-Gibbs
Two broken people with scars on their bodies and in their hearts find each other and believe there may be a chance for happiness. This is a struggle through dark places but the goal is to live again in the light.
Alexander David Randall sells out of the army to answer the call to duty as the heir to the Earl of Daventry. He was thinking of going home anyway so he is happy to leave the war. His Uncle was never fond of him but he doesn't want his linage to die so he urges him to take a wife, immediately.
Julia Bancroft is a midwife that Alex can't get out of  his mind. He determines he might check on her and see if she has thought of him.
Julia is kidnapped by ruffians and is assured she will die. Alex hears about it and sets off to rescue her. The problem is her kidnappers were hired by Alex's uncle.
This story is a long journey through two lives that were shaped by extreme cruelty and bleak prospects. The thing is how can love triumph over such horrible circumstances?
It is a love story of epic proportions.
I gave the author Five Stars. The characters were flesh and blood people who come alive on the pages. It was a wonderful page turner that was delightful.
I heartily recommend this love story to all who love romance. Oh...If we could all have an Alex! Thank you Mary Jo Putney.
